The year of the Van Conversion | Aug 2019 - 2020

TLDR

I reduced the entire year of blood, sweat and tears into a 10 minute video. Ben said it’s depressing to watch (LOL) but I think it’s nice to have memorialized.

VP of Design

With my newly purchased iPad, I gladly took on the role of lead designer for the project. Ben and I would often find ourselves flailing about in the van trying to convey our ideas to each other. So being able to visualize ideas like this and talk them out was super helpful.

VP of Everything Else

After roping Ben into my crazy idea, he was not going to stop working day and night until this thing was finished. I don’t think I’ll ever understand how much of his time and effort went into building this thing. His Dad was also an enormous help, especially with his woodworking expertise. Ben’s favorite part was figuring out the electrical which was surprising to both of us!

Plans change

I intended to document the van build for my YouTube channel, but alas the build itself was enough work. I made 2 tutorials though, and they are some of the top viewed videos on my channel!

Home is where you park it, baby!

The van is now decked out and ready to roll!!! We took it on its Maiden Voyage for 3 months in 2020. In April 2021, I quit my job and we started living it in full time!
