Canoe Trip | Summer 2019

6 days, minimal canoe experience

Ben decided one day that we should do a canoe trip, despite the fact we had both never been on one before. Before I knew it, we were in the middle of nowhere with a few backpacks and a canoe. Carrying supplies for 6 days, we set off into the Boundary Waters for our biggest adventure yet.

Each night, Ben planned our route for the next day.

Some days were easier than others and we were really at the mercy of the weather. The toughest part was spotting the portages that take you to the next lake, but we got the hang of it quicker than I expected!

Watch the journey

Was it really an Erin and Ben Adventure if we didn’t vlog it?? This was a little different from my hiking vlogs so it took some getting used to. I had to find ways of making 6 hours of canoeing per day stay interesting.

50 hour drive? Sure why not.

The Boundary Waters are on the east coast, so it felt drivable. We stopped to backpack around The Sleeping Giant in Thunder Bay ON. I’m glad we did, Lake Superior blew us away!
